The Merchant Bath Bar
A man looks out from his stall at the open air market at a crowd of people shuffling through its warm, colorful pathways. He feels the blended hum of their voices resonate in his chest like music. With each breath, he takes in the smells carried on the air from the many stalls of the market—spices mingle with vanilla and a deep, honeyed amber to create something greater than the sum of its parts. His spirit is fueled by this air, and powerful air it is. The fragrance is no whisper on the wind, but rather the mighty breath of far-away places brought to the market. With this breath in his mouth, the man speaks to his patrons, and they hear the world in his voice. This powerful fragrance by Shawn Maher of Maher Olfactive and Chatillon Lux bears a unique, sweet-and-spicy boldness befitting a man who, with his world of experience and his world of options, has something very special to offer his fellow man: The Merchant.

I really love The Merchant scent; it's a sweet scent but with a spicy undertone that just works. I have the shave soap, recovery splash, parfum, and, of course, the bath soap. The latter smells great, it's good for the skin, and it gets the job done. I even appreciate that it's slightly smaller than other artisan bath soaps I've used, so that it fits better in a typical travel soap container. It will be a regular part of my rotation but that said, I have one quibble - it just doesn't lather as well as I'd like. I have several bath soaps from another artisan vendor that lather much better and for that reason are more satisfying to use - but, of course, they don't have The Merchant scent. I don't mean to imply that I don't like this soap - I absolutely do - it's just that I think one (possibly small) improvement could elevate it from an excellent soap to the best of the best.
I’ve been a fan of the bath soaps since my first purchase but I love the scent on this one the most so far. It’s warm and spicy. Just an all around pleasant scent in my opinion.
I'm in love. The scent takes me back to drinking street cart chai tea in India. I'll probably pick up the shaving soap in the future!
